Is An Online Graduate Degree Legitimate? (OfficialWire) Posted: 28 Jan 2010 09:11 PM PST
| Anyone that has been forced into the capitalist machine knows that in order to become a viable part of the economy and stand out from the crowd, one must receive a graduate degree from an accredited university. However, the weight of that task can cause many students to fail before they start. The truth is without a graduate education, there's no actual hope of finding financial success in the business world, so where does that leave those students who can't monetarily or mentally afford to give up their jobs and head back to study. The retention rate of most accredited graduate universities is falling. It's a state of being that many students can't manage to pay for graduate degrees, especially since they will be losing income at the same time. But, how can one ensure their future without it? More and more online universities are graduate degrees that are fully accepted by employers. This gives giving traditional and non-traditional students alike the opportunities they deserve. While the Internet isn't exactly the picture of legitimacy in many cases, it is easy to determine the merit of an online graduate degree. Degree.com (www.degree.com) - The Premier Internet Portal for Online Study, has sifted through the madness to bring students from every walk of life the perfect options for them. Whether they're returning after 20 years of academic absence or seeking alternative means to get their Graduate degree, Degree.com has found the top accredited online graduate programs that will get you on your way to the success you deserve. Online universities ensure that your academic life works in conjunction with your personal life, so that you're more than capable of studying for mid-terms and trudging to and from your 9 to 5 without being overwhelmed and preoccupied with either. Professor Sheila Danzig, Director of Degree.com, has helped many students through Degree.com, enabling them to get the education they deserve and still maintain a personal life that is as fruitful as it is healthy. DU offers new online degree (The Triangle) Posted: 29 Jan 2010 05:25 AM PST On Jan. 18, Drexel University Online announced the launch of a new program: Bachelor in Science in Business Administration Jan. 18. The new BSBA program includes a wide range of courses that introduce students to all aspects of business with an emphasis on how things are done in the real world. The program is designed to imitate the BSBA program taught at Drexel's main campus; all the courses that are offered at Drexel Online are also taught at Drexel's main campus. Drexel Online offers the same classes, because when "students graduate [they graduate] with a Drexel University degree, not a Drexel Online degree," Kenneth Hartman, academic director for Drexel Online, said. Though the similarities are vast, Drexel University and Drexel Online's programs are different in which the way they are taught. Kristen Betts, who has taught in traditional, hybrid and online settings, finds that while the online teaching setting may be similar, it is not the same as face-to-face teaching. "With both traditional and blended courses, faculty have the advantage of working with students in a face-to-face environment, so community development is somewhat [of] an inherent part of the classroom," Betts said. "In online education, faculty need to strategically consider how course development and instruction can support student engagement and community development. This also pertains to discussion boards...faculty don't have the luxury of simply jumping in, like in a face-to-face classroom, and quickly asking another question." "Currently, over 3.5 million college students are taking online course[s] and/or earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, over 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online, and nearly 40 states have established state-wide or state-lead virtual schools," Hartman said. "We're very proud to offer our students the outstanding Drexel curriculum within this convenient online format." Last year, Drexel University Online offered over 80 degrees and certificates that were completely online. This upcoming academic year, Drexel Online will add one more degree to the list of offered courses with the BSBA program. Five Filters featured article: Chilcot Inquiry.
