HEC declares degree of Punjab MPA Sabina Riaz fake

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (Online): Higher Education Commission (HEC) has declared as fake BBA degree of Sabina Riaz, a member of Punjab Assembly from PPP.

This way the number of degrees declared bogus by respective universities after the completion of scrutiny process has gone upto 49.

HEC sources told Hajveri university has declared the degree held by PPP member of Punjab Assembly Sabina Riaz as fake. No record of this degree was available in the concerned university and in the wake of this development, university management has declared the degree bogus , sources disclosed. University has also informed HEC formally in this regard.

Degree possessed by Aamir Yar Warran, a former MNA of PPP has been declared bogus by Balochistan university and he has already quit his seat of national assembly for possessing fake degree.

The verification process of degrees of 60 members of parliament from the respective universities is underway and HEC will extend the deadline for the 4th time for completion of exercise of verification of degrees.

HEC sources disclosed the election commission had not provided record pertaining to 12 degrees of parliamentarians to it for verification so far.

Hancock College

Fall registration ends Saturday

Online registration for fall classes at Hancock College will end Saturday, Aug. 28.

Prospective students can choose from more than 1,200 classes, ranging from semester-length to short term. Classes began this week.

To register online, click the "Register" link under "Fall 2010" in the upper right section of the college's home page at www.hancock college.edu.

Students planning to attend Hancock for the first time must attend a START assessment session and a new student orientation.

SB City College

Partnership announced

Santa Barbara City College and Brandman University have announced plans to form an Early Advantage Partnership, or EAP.

By enrolling in Brandman's EAP program, Santa Barbara City College students taking transferable courses will be admitted to Brandman's Santa Maria campus. The transferable classes include the following programs: criminal justice, early-childhood development, legal studies, liberal studies, organizational leadership, psychology, social science and sociology.

The EAP program also includes Brandman's new bachelor's degree in business administration offered online and at the Santa Maria campus.

Santa Barbara County

County preschools earn accreditation

Six preschools in the county, including the Santa Ynez Valley State Preschool at College School in Santa Ynez, have earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of young children.

The other five preschools, all operated by the Child Development Programs of the Santa Barbara County Education Office, are Los Alamos State Preschool at Olga Reed School in Los Alamos and four in the Lompoc area: De Colores State Preschool at Clarence Ruth School, Just for Kids State Preschool at Arthur Hapgood School, La Honda State Preschool at La Honda School, and The Learning Place State Preschool at Crestview Elementary (VAFB).

The six preschools provide a school readiness program for 250 students, 3- to 5-year-olds from low-income families.

According to the county education office, only 8 percent of all early-childhood programs receive the accreditation.

Hancock College

Dancers earn their ears

The Hancock College Dancers became stars of a Disney show this summer when they entertained Disneyland Resort visitors at Plaza Gardens Stage in Anaheim.

They took part in a Disney Performing Arts Program, which allows dance groups, ensembles and marching bands from around the world to perform each year at both the Disneyland and the Walt Disney World resorts.

Millions of performers have taken part in the more than 25-year history of the program.
