In today's Media market it's not the degree professionals focus on so much as the portfolio, and the best way to build your portfolio is to start working at a college newspaper. There's no better place to begin your career than at The University Times and NinerOnline.

Our reporters are covering everything from national to local issues, and they are learning real-world lessons not taught in any classroom. Our alumni have gone on to work with several well known media sources including Creative Loafing and News 14.

Our reporters are from all majors and years of education. No prior experience is required, and each reporter is assigned to an editor who serves as a guide and teaches them the trade.

If you are not interested in writing, you can also shoot photos, design the paper, create multimedia videos or work on our Web site.

I encourage you to get more information, e-mail us, and come visit us at any time. If journalism is not for you, then I hope you'll pick up the paper every Tuesday and Thursday and read nineronline.com.

Now You Know Where To Do An Accredited Law Degree Online

Posted: 10 Sep 2010 10:34 PM PDT

09.10.2010 – Whilst the avenues to doing various business and arts degree online are numerous, doing an accredited law degree (otherwise called a juris doctor degree) online has been virtually impossible. Online law degrees are generally not accredited by the American Bar Association. Hence a person holding such a degree is ineligible to sit their State's Bar exam and consequently unable to become a practicing lawyer.

However, advancements in the field of online education has provided a route that allows students to pursue a degree in law online and be eligible to sit the Bar exam. According to DistanceEducationDegree.org website, California is the exception to the rule of States not recognizing online law schools.

Persons who get juris doctor degrees at certain online law schools recognized by the California Sate Bar will be eligible to sit their bar exam and eventually practice law in the State. After a few years of such persons practicing law in California, they may be eligible to sit the bar exam in other states.

According to David Cassell, one of the writers on the Distance Education Degree website, it is no surprise that online education has provided this avenue to aspiring law students. Mr. Cassell says that "online education opens doors that are often closed to traditional students". He expects other states to follow California's lead.
